TikTok ads cost $4.20 to $9.00 per thousand impressions, $0.17 to $1.00 per click, and TikTok won't spend below $50 a day at the campaign level. Those are the numbers most brands come here for.
The CPM is only half the bill. What you pay for the creative that runs in those placements is the other half, and for DTC brands it's the half that decides whether the platform spend works or gets wasted.
This covers both: the platform benchmarks, the minimums that catch new advertisers out, and what a DTC brand actually budgets to run TikTok ads end to end.

TikTok ads cost $4.20 to $9.00 per thousand impressions on average, with CPCs from $0.17 to $1.00 and two-second video views as low as $0.01. Read those ranges as starting points, not fixed rates. Your CPM moves with your audience, your bid strategy, and above all your creative.
Average range | |
|---|---|
CPM (cost per 1,000 impressions) | $4.20–$9.00 |
CPC (cost per click) | $0.17–$1.00 |
CPV (2-second view) | $0.01–$0.07 |
The number that matters most for DTC brands is the gap with Meta. TikTok's CPM runs 30 to 50% below Meta's $8 to $14 range.
Cheaper impressions don't automatically mean a cheaper cost per acquisition. TikTok is a discovery platform, so purchase intent starts lower and conversion rates usually follow.
Some of that price gap is structural. Meta's audience carries more purchase intent, so a good CPM Facebook ads number of $8 to $14 can still return profitably where the same CPM on TikTok would worry you.
Instagram Reels sits between the two at $7 to $12, and TikTok vs Instagram splits on more than price for a DTC brand: audience age, ad format, and how much polish the feed rewards.
Format decides a lot of the cost too.
CPM range | |
|---|---|
In-Feed Ads (auction) | $4–$8 |
Spark Ads | $5–$10 |
TopView | $10–$20 |
Brand Takeover | $20–$50 |
In-Feed Auction ads at $4 to $8 CPM are the right starting point for most DTC brands. TopView and Brand Takeover are awareness plays at premium cost, not where you start if you're optimising toward CPA. Spark Ads sit slightly higher than standard in-feed at $5 to $10, and they consistently outperform because they carry the social proof of organic content.

TikTok enforces spend minimums, and they surprise more new advertisers than any other cost on the platform.
Minimum | |
|---|---|
Campaign (lifetime) | $500 |
Campaign (daily) | $50 |
Ad group (daily) | $20 |
The $500 figure is the one that trips people up. It's a lifetime campaign minimum, not a daily one. Run a 10-day test at $50 a day and you've spent $500, which clears the threshold. You're not writing a $500 cheque on day one.
The $50/day campaign level and $20/day ad group level are daily minimums, and both have to be met at the same time. Set either below the floor and the campaign won't spend at all.
A budget under the floor is the most common cause of TikTok ads not spending, and Ads Manager flags it before you publish. Plenty of campaigns still go live underfunded, show as active, and quietly deliver nothing.

Platform spend is only half the equation. Creative production is the other half, and for DTC brands it decides whether the platform budget is working or leaking. Most "how much do TikTok ads cost" posts stop at CPM and CPC. The real question is what it costs to run a TikTok strategy that actually performs.
Studio-produced creative runs $2,000 to $10,000+ per video, and most brands make two to four a quarter. That's $4,000 to $40,000+ in quarterly creative before a cent of media spend.
On TikTok it also tends to earn a lower engagement rate, which pushes the effective CPM up in the auction and CTR down.
UGC creator content runs $200 to $2,000 per piece depending on the tier. A typical DTC brand runs 10 to 20 pieces a month to keep creative testing moving, so $2,000 to $40,000 a month depending on volume.
Rates also move with the market. UGC creators in the US typically price above most European markets, so a US-heavy campaign budgets more per video than the same brief run out of Poland or Portugal.
On TikTok it earns higher engagement, wins cheaper impressions in the auction, and usually lifts CTR. Full content rights come back to the brand, so every video you put spend behind is one you own and can reuse.
The TikTok ad examples that win almost always come down to a native hook in the first two seconds, which is a briefing decision rather than a production budget.

Put the two side by side at similar total spend:
Similar money, very different output. The creator route buys 15 creative variants a month against the studio route's four, and native creative wins cheaper impressions in the auction.
Fifteen chances to find a winner instead of four is what pulls CPA down over the following months.

Influencer pricing on TikTok scales with follower count, and the tiers span a wide range.
Followers | Cost per post | |
|---|---|---|
Nano | Under 10K | $200–$500 |
Micro | 10K–100K | $500–$2,000 |
Mid-tier | 100K–500K | $2,000–$5,000 |
Macro | 500K–1M | $5,000–$10,000 |
Mega | 1M+ | $10,000+ |
For DTC brands, the $200 to $2,000 band is the right tier. A nano influencer under 10K followers runs $200 to $500 and carries the highest engagement rate of any tier.
A micro influencer at $500 to $2,000 adds reach without giving much of that up, and Spark Ads rights are far cheaper to negotiate than at the top end. Mega influencers at $10,000+ are awareness plays, not conversion plays.
One line item brands miss: Spark Ads authorisation is separate from the organic post fee. Running a creator's content as a paid in-feed ad typically adds 20 to 30% to the base rate, so agree usage rights up front. Renegotiating after the content is live costs more and stalls the campaign.
Follower count is the weakest predictor of what you'll pay. UGC price tracks the deliverable and the usage term instead, so a three-video package with paid rights can run higher than a single post from a bigger account.
How to hire UGC creators is mostly a briefing problem, not a sourcing one. A brief specific enough that the first cut is usable is what keeps a batch on schedule and on budget.

Here's what real budgets look like at each stage. These are platform spend only; add creator fees on top from the creative section above.
$50 to $150 a day is the minimum viable test. At a $9 CPM, $100/day buys roughly 11,000 impressions. At a 2% CTR that's about 220 clicks, and at a 1.6% CVR, three to four conversions a day.
That's enough to start reading which creative and audience combinations work, not enough to scale with confidence. Give it two to three weeks before you draw conclusions.
At $200 to $1,000 a day you have the volume to run real A/B tests, spot winning creative quickly, and watch CPA settle into a trend. Most DTC brands that are working on TikTok sit here after a testing phase.
You're buying faster learning cycles and the room to scale winners without running dry.
Above $1,000 a day, creative testing velocity becomes the constraint. You burn through audiences and creative faster, so brands at this level run 20 to 30+ active variants and refresh weekly. UGC creator content is the only creative supply that keeps up at this spend.

Those numbers are platform spend only. Creator fees sit on top, and the cheapest way to keep creative flowing is to brief a batch of creators at once instead of commissioning one video at a time.

TikTok ads work for DTC brands that have two things: native creative and enough budget to clear the learning phase. That's the direct answer.
What doesn't work is running a polished brand video at $50/day for two weeks and calling it a test. Polished creative loses in the auction, $50/day is the floor rather than the optimal test budget, and two weeks won't produce the 20 to 50 conversion events the algorithm needs to optimise.

What works is native UGC creator content, $100 to $200/day in platform spend, three to four weeks of testing, and five to ten creative variants to find one that clears a 2% CTR.
The CPM advantage over Meta is real, but it only becomes a lower CPA when the creative earns engagement.
For brands running UGC ads, TikTok often delivers competitive CPA at lower platform cost. An influencer marketing platform covers the briefing, content rights, and Spark Ads authorisation that route depends on.
For brands running polished video, Meta frequently wins. Its audience skews older and more purchase-intent-driven, and the feed tolerates produced creative better.

TikTok ads cost a minimum of $50 per day at the campaign level. Most DTC brands land somewhere between $100 and $1,000 a day depending on whether they're still testing or already scaling. Creator fees for the videos sit on top of that media spend, which is the line most budgets forget.
The minimum budget for TikTok ads is $50 per day per campaign and $20 per day per ad group, with a $500 lifetime floor at campaign level. Both daily minimums apply at the same time, and a budget under either one won't spend at all.
TikTok ads are cheaper than Facebook ads per impression, at a $4.20 to $9.00 CPM against Meta's $8 to $14. The lower cost doesn't guarantee a lower cost per acquisition, since TikTok traffic starts with less purchase intent and converts at lower rates.
You should budget your first TikTok ads test in weeks rather than days. Three weeks at $100 to $150 a day is roughly $2,000 to $3,200 in media, plus creator fees for the five to ten videos you'll test against each other. Cutting that short is the most common way brands spend the money and learn nothing from it.
TikTok influencer posts cost $200 to $500 for a nano influencer and $500 to $2,000 for a micro influencer, rising past $10,000 at mega tier. Spark Ads usage rights add roughly 20 to 30% on top of the organic post fee.
TikTok advertising is worth it for small DTC brands selling a product that demonstrates well on video. If your product needs explaining more than showing, Meta's older and higher-intent audience is usually the better first platform, and TikTok makes more sense once you already have creative that converts.
